about
My dearly departed friend, Kevin Johnson, and and I wrote this song on a cold winter's night in December of 1987. I had the chorus and the first verse bouncing around for a few days. Then, after a night of deliberate beer and whisky drinking, Keb and I had finished what we thought might be a new holiday classic, or maybe just a goofy Christmas satire for family and freinds. Somewhere in between. Either way, I hope you like it as much as I do. Merry Christmas!
lyrics
Song Lyrics:
Santa don't come to my house anymore
Even though I left those milk and cookies by the door
He used to bring me candy canes and presents by the score
But Santa don't come to my house anymore
When I was a young child he took good care of me
He'd haul those presents in his sack right down our chimney
Come first light we'd run downstairs, our young hearts filled with glee
To see those presents in a stack beneath the Christmas tree
Santa don't come to my house anymore
Even though I left those milk and cookies by the door
He used to bring me candy canes and presents by the score
But Santa don't come to my house anymore
Dad and Grandpa like to hunt they go out once a year
They pack their lunch and load the truck with all their hunting gear
Then one fateful season they had some real bad luck
Strapped across Grandpa's hood was a big dead red nosed buck
Santa don't come to my house anymore
Even though I left those milk and cookies by the door
He used to bring me candy canes and presents by the score
But Santa don't come to my house anymore
Many years have come and gone since that fateful day
And I ain't seen a hide nor hair of that fat man or his sleigh
You wouldn't think he'd hold a grudge for nigh on twenty years
I'd like to tell that fat sum-bitch it wasn't me that shot his deer
Santa don't come to my house anymore
Even though I left those milk and cookies by the door
He used to bring me candy canes and presents by the score
But Santa don't come to my house anymore
Santa don't come to my house anymore
Santa don't come to my house anymore

Born in Indianapolis, IN, I moved to Portland, OR in 1992 and started the Tree Frogs. We were a big deal in the 90s. A big
7 piece jam band that released three albums while touring and scrounging our way across the USA. Since then a lot of life altering crazy stuff has happened, and along the way I found the time to write a bunch of country songs, debuting 5 of them on my new EP release, Nickel....more
